James E. Edmond – Obituary

James E. Edmond of Florence passed away Tuesday February 26, 2013. Visitation will be Friday March 1 at Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ from Noon until 2pm. Services will be at 2pm at the church with Dr. Kenny Barfield and Jack Henson officiating. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.

James was survived by his children, Leon Edmond (Linda) of Bear Creek and Martha Spicer of Phil Campbell. Grandchildren; Gentry Pigg (Theresa), Dianne Johnston (Mark), Lonnie Edmond (Kim), Debe Robinson (Randy), Kevin Edmond (Karrie), Celeste Emmons and Angie Emmons. Fifteen great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Dorthy Edmond. First wife Artie Morrow, second wife Willie Mae Barnett, third wife Gus Hyde. Brothers Charlie and Robert Edmond. Sisters Fannie, Rena and Lonely. Daughter’s Imogene Pigg (Eugene) and Yvonne Gannon (Joe).

James was a member of Sherrod Ave Church of Christ since 1937, serving as an elder for several years. Last several years a member of Gravel Hill Church of Christ, Phil Campbell.

Special thanks to employees of Rose Manor Assisted Living, Haleyville, Al. Staff of ER and 6th floor at ECM and Dr. Webb and staff at Glennwood Healthcare.

Pallbearers will be Gentry Pigg, Lonnie Edmond, Randy Robinson, Mark Johnston, Kevin Edmond and Corey Burkes. Honorary Pallbearers are all former and present elders and deacons of Sherrod Ave. Church of Christ.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ Mission Fund, Mars Hill Bible School or Heritage Christian University.
