James Dwight (Jim) Patrick went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2023. He will be missed by family and friends. Jim was born on January 7, 1938, in Akron, Ohio. He lived there until turning 18, then moving to Winchester, Tennessee. He was a lifelong businessman who also lived in St. Petersburg FL, Murfreesboro TN, Milton TN, Estill Springs TN and retired to The Villages, FL. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Reba Joyce (Sharp) Patrick, his two sons, James Michael Patrick of Christiana TN (Wendy), and Douglas Lewis Patrick (Tammy) of Arrington, TN. One daughter Sandra Kay (Smith) Darley (Tim) of The Villages, FL, and two more sons, Wendell Smith (Sandra) of Toney, AL and Timothy Smith (Sherry) of Walter Hill, TN. He has 12 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis M. Patrick, his mother Ruby Rae (Hoots) Patrick, one sister, Sandra Patrick Etheridge, and one brother David Alan Patrick. Jim accepted Christ into his heart in the late 1960’s, attending the Catholic, Presbyterian, and Cumberland Presbyterian Churches nearly all his adult life. He served as an Elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro for 15 years. Jim graduated from Akron Central High School in 1956. He was a partner in his dad’s service station business in Ohio, and then moved to Tennessee in the early 1960’s to become a lifelong bowling proprietor (having owned 6 different bowling centers at different times). He also was a proficient real estate investor, retail store owner, and commercial and residential property specialist. He was an exemplary self-made man. Much of his business acumen is attributed to his adherence to the principles of the Dale Carnegie Courses, Inc. His passions included family, politics, murder-mystery books and shows, card-playing, and especially traveling. Along with Reba, he visited nearly 65 countries, 48 states, and took 80 cruises. Visitation, Memorial Service, and graveside services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Winchester, TN. Visitation from 11:00am-1:00 pm, followed by a memorial service and burial. Family will host friends at Moore-Cortner reception area following burial. The family is using Simple Expressions Florist in Decherd or memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to: St.Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN Condolences may be shared at Heinz Funeral Home, Inverness Florida and Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Winchester, TN.
