James Dee Newton, age 74, of Killen was greeted at Heavens Gates by his lord and savior Jesus Christ Friday July 20, 2012. James was the second child born to Asa Newton and Anna Bell Cottrell Newton on July 26, 1937, which preceded him in death. James was a wonderful Daddy and Big Daddy to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He graduated from Lexington High School, was a member of Faith Church and retired from E.S. Robbins. James leaves to cherish his memory his pride and joys, son, James Anthony Newton (Tony) and wife Joy of Decatur; daughters, Deborah Parker and husband Jay of Killen, and Carol Fowler and husband Terry of Killen; grandchildren, Jason Parker (Amanda) of Decatur, Neely Parker of Killen, Jake Newton of Decatur, Cody Fowler and Ceely Fowler of Killen; two great granddaughters Haylee and Huntlee Parker of Killen; two brothers, Elbert Newton of Killen and David Newton of Lexington; sister, Barbara Green of Tennessee. We the children and grandchildren would like to thank Dr. Webb, Dr. Charles Wilson, Dr. Patel, Dr. Daughtery, Dr. Mark Hadley of UAB and Dr. John Arujo of MD Anderson. To the entire staff of Glenwood Rehab, you all will always have a special place in our hearts forever. Thank you neighbors and friends for your love and support, but most of all thank you Daddy and Big Daddy for your unconditional love and support and for teaching us that love, faith and family mean everything. The visitation will be Monday July 23, 2012, from 11 until 1 p.m. at Spry~Williams Funeral Home with the service following at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Bro. Henry Melton and Bro. Tommy James will officiate. The burial will follow in Nebo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Parker, Cody Fowler, Jake Newton, Ricky Ritter, Tom Bean, Mike Nash, and Ray Thigpen. Honorary bearer will be Bro. Gene Richey.
