Mr. James David Knight, age 88 of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Visitation will be held on November 15th from 1pm – 2pm at Ridouts-Brown Service Funeral Home in Decatur with a funeral service beginning at 2pm. Burial will be held at the Roselawn Cemetery. Rev. Danny Holmes of Decatur Baptist will be officiating the service.
Mr. Knight was a long-time businessman in Decatur and co-founded Knight Insurance with his wife, Martha. He also served as a jet mechanic in the United States Air Force. In his spare time he enjoyed wood working and working on tractors. Spending time with friends and family was something that brought Mr. Knight great joy; especially when they were playing Rook.
Mr. Knight was a long-time member of Decatur Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Knight; sons, David Knight (Judy), Bradley Knight, Patrick Knight (Malina); grandchildren, Jason Knight, Mandy Bedwell, Isaac Knight, Andrew Knight; great-grandchildren, Leah Knight, Trevor Knight, David Bedwell, and Makayla Bedwell; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Edith Knight.
Pallbearers are Jason Knight, Trevor Knight, Isaac Knight, Andrew Knight, Bronson Logston, and Jaiden Terry. The members of Mr. Knights Sunday morning small group will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to Bedwells 4 Christ through Decatur Baptist Church.
