James Daniel “Danny” Thomas, Age 66, died on Saturday, April 22, 2017 after a sudden illness.
Danny owned and operated Thomas Heating and Air Conditioning Company. Starting in 1980 Danny has served the Jackson area for thirty-seven years. He was born in Jackson, TN on February 4, 1951, the son of the late James Edward Thomas and Mary Catherine Davis Thomas. He was a graduate of Jackson High School in 1969. He was on the track team and a member of VICA in 1968 and President in 1969. While he was a senior at Jackson High School, he joined the TN Army National Guard. Danny served his county from 1969 until 2005 and retired at the rank of Captain.
Danny enjoyed many things in life, such as taking care of his family, his friends and his customers; fishing, hunting, NASCAR racing, dirt track racing, collecting certain items, basketball games, cooking and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parent and grandparents.
His is survived by his best friend and companion, Judy Marie Dailey Chumney; his two sons, Jason Thomas and wife Sandra and Daniel Thomas and wife Heather and two grandchildren, Austin and Rylee Thomas. Danny is also survived by his three brothers, Robert Dewayne (Bobby) Thomas and his wife Pam, Richard Lee (Ricky) Thomas and Randel Glenn (Randy) Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Jack Camp, Jr., Jeff Drake, Caleb Keel, Jerrod Tims, Jeff Crawford and Chris Long.
Honorary pallbearers will be King Bradley, Steve Keel, Billy Cook, Bobby Gregson, Tommy Kelly, Clift Sykes, Clift Goodrich, Jack Holmes, Ben Curlin, Bill Dement, Alan Dement and Harbert Alexander, Jr.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation with the Thomas family will be on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that memorial contribution be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, the American Heart Association, 2170 Business Center # 1, Memphis, TN 38134 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
