James Columbus “J.C.” Hand, age 83, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Wednesday, October 02, 2024, at North Alabama Medical Center.
J.C. proudly served his nation in the U.S. Navy. He worked and retired from Reynolds, and he was a Missionary Baptist preacher for more than 40 years. He was devoted to his wife, Brenda, loved his children and grandchildren; but first and foremost, he loved his Jesus. He was an avid coon hunter and loved to work in his garden. He loved music and guitars, playing and singing.
J.C. leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 60 years, Brenda Riner Hand; children, Teresa Hand Ricketts (Mike), Angela Hand Huckaba (Bobby), Chris Hand (Melinda); grandchildren, Heath Malone (Lauren), Emily Nelson (Andrew), Nathan Huckaba, Caleb Huckaba (Angelica), Lauren Fleming (Jacob), Riley Hand; great-grandchildren, Dax Malone, Addie Kate Malone, Ann Holland Malone, Joshua Isaac Huckaba, Jesse Nathaniel Fleming; siblings, Kenneth Hand, Ann McClure, Paul Hand, Joel Hand, Steve Hand; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Ada (Borden) Hand; sister, Patricia Smith; and brother, Ray Hand.
The visitation will 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 07, 2024, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Keith Prince and Jonathan Prince officiating the service. The burial will be in Calvary Baptist Cemetery in Ligon Springs community with military honors.
The pallbearers will be Heath Malone, Nathan Huckaba, Caleb Huckaba, Dennis Carmack, Phillip Smallwood, and Victor Byrd. The honorary pallbearer will be Riley Hand.
