James Clyde Waddell, 87, went home to heaven to be with family on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 8th from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jeff Newton and Bro. Scott Livingston.
James was a native of Colbert County and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. He retired from Reynolds Metals where he worked for better than 37 years. He loved the outdoors and watching the Atlanta Braves and college football games.
James was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maude Waddell; brothers, Author and Varnell Waddell and George “J.R.” and Margie Waddell; and brother-in-law, Willard Harland.
James is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jewell Howell Waddell; sons, Mike and Sandra Waddell and Jimbo and Kathy Waddell; brothers, Bobby and Earl Waddell; sisters, Esther Harland; 5 grandchildren, Bret Waddell, Blake and Lauren Waddell, Mary Katherine Waddell, Molly Waddell, and Carter Waddell; 1 great-grandson, Benson Waddell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bret Waddell, Blake Waddell, Carter Waddell, Clay Waddell, Steve Gates, and Gary Harland.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Valdosta Baptist Church.
