Mr. James Clifton Parker, age 86, of Rogersville, Ala., died Tuesday at ECM Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Parker was born on June 1, 1926, in Lauderdale County, Ala. to Charles and Lula Robertson Parker. Mr. Parker was a member of the West Rogersville Church of Christ, a former employee of Florence Hardware and retired from Reynolds Metal Co. He is preceded in death by brothers, Alvin and Billy Parker.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel, Athens, Ala., with Josh Webber and Don Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornton-Ingram Cemetery, Rogersville, Ala. Visitation will be Thursday, 6-9 p.m., at Spry Funeral Home, Athens, Ala.
Survivors include wife, Betty Ann Thornton Parker, of Rogersville, Ala.; sons, Mike Parker and wife, Paula, of Cedar Park, Texas, Pat Parker and wife, Teresa, of Rogersville, Ala.; daughter, Mona Parker, of Rogersville, Ala.; brothers, John Parker, of Rogersville, Ala., Eulis Parker, of Killen, Ala.; sister, Jewel Peck, of Killen, Ala.; half brothers, Dwight Parker, of Rogersville, Ala., Charles Parker Jr., of Rogersville, Ala., Kenneth Parker, of Rogersville, Ala.; half sisters, Myra Sandlin, of Pulaski, Tenn., Shirley Newton, of Leoma, Tenn., Sherry Spires, of Florence, Ala.; grandchildren, Christopher Parker, April Sullivan, Levi Parker, Peyton Parker and Parker East; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces; and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Thornton, Jeff Thornton, Steve Parker, Barry Parker, Tyron East, Danny Looney, Jackie Wayne Parker and Trey Nance.
Honorary pallbearer will be James Spry.
