James Clifford Johnson, Sr., age 77, and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on September 20, 1947, James was the son of the late James Johnson and the late Elizabeth Daly Hersey. James proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam era. For 58 years, he shared a devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Debbie Jones Johnson. A true outdoorsman at heart, James found immense joy in fishing. He was also a talented artist and an avid collector of antiques. James was a man of many passions, including photography, working with computers, and following Formula 1 racing. James also had a fondness for movies of the sci-fi and comedy genres. Above all, James cherished his family.
In addition to his wife, Debbie, he is survived by his son, James C. (Sharon) Johnson, Jr.; daughters, Angela Johnson and Elizabeth Harkins; sister, Jane Johnson; grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Shelby Grau, Wesley Johnson, Andy Harkins, Laci Johnson, and Cali Johnson; great grandchildren, Charlotte Johnson, Margaret Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, Zelda Johnson, and Harper Lily Johnson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Hersey.
