Mr. James Clifford GilliamMr. James Clifford Gilliam, known as Clifford, passed away on November 02, 2024, at the age of 75, in Skyline, Alabama. Born on January 03, 1949, he dedicated his life to his family and to God. He worked in the aluminum and metal industry until his brain aneurysm.

He cherished spending time with his loved ones, especially his wife, Carolyn Hambrick Gilliam, with whom he shared over 49 wonderful years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hambrick Gilliam, two sons, James Clifford Gilliam, Jr. (Christie), and Jeffery Gilliam-Swaggerty (Anthony); along with his grandchildren, Ashley Wade, and Zachery Gilliam (Brooke), Hunter (Jessica) Thompson and children, and Tyler Thompson. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Allison Wade, Elias Aldana, and Ezra Gilliam, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his fur baby, Gizzy.

Known for being a little stubborn, Clifford was a hard worker, who cared for the union employees. He also had a passion for hunting, fishing, gardening, and ranching. He loved anything with a motor and wheels, including all the cars he had through the years. Clifford was also an avid fan of all westerns, relishing the stories and adventures they portrayed.

A member of the Christian faith, Clifford’s legacy will be remembered for his love of the Lord: for preaching and his knowledge of God’s word.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, James Horace Gilliam and Mary Lou Gilliam; as well as two brothers, Lawrence Gilliam and Rodney Gilliam.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Enhabit Hospice and Nurse Amber Thompson for the care they provided for their loved one.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Hess officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers:
Ralph Warren, Anthony Swaggerty, Nick Hambrick, Darrell Bohanon, Greg Gilliam, L Gene Gossett.

Honorary Pallbearer: Jerry Wayne Dolberry.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
