Funeral services for Mr. James Carlton Harrison, age 79, will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 8 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023, and from 11 AM until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Harrison passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Piedmont Hospital in Athens, GA.
Mr. Harrison was born on March 24, 1944, in Humboldt, TN to the late J. D. and Minnie Allen Harrison, and was a member of Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church in Trenton, TN and Faith Pentecostal Church in Hull, GA.
Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Minnie Allen Harrison; a brother, Roger Harrison; and a step granddaughter Ashley Nicole Daniel.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Dilday Harrison; a son Jonathan Harrison of Ocean Springs, MS; a step daughter, Sonya King and husband Jimmy of Hull, GA; a sister, Phyllis Harrison and Jimmy of Humboldt, TN; Granddaughter, ReAnna Cheyenne Harrison; and two great grandchildren, Rance Milton Beasley and Emersyn Kate Britt.
