Mr. James Burns Pace Jr., age 90 of Scottsboro, AL passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. He was born on May 29th, 1934 in South Pittsburg Tennessee to James B. Pace Sr. and Louella Headrick Pace.
James, fondly remembered as Jim, attended Scottsboro High School. He then obtained an Associate’s Degree from Northeast Alabama Community College and was employed as an Iron Worker for the remainder of his career. He was able to retire in 1999. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958.
He married Ruby Faye Phillips on January 1st, 1957 and they lived in Munich Germany from 1957 to 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Faye Phillips Pace; children, Kimberly Faye Pace / Keller (Doug Keller), Melinda Lee Pace / Clark, and James B. Pace The III; grandchildren, in order of birth are Curtis Wayne Pace (Crystal Pace), Derek Pace, Sydney Keller, Caleb Keller, Madison Clark, Kinslee Clark, and Callyn Pace; brother, Billy Earl Pace; sister, Brenda Lee Lloyd; several step siblings, Jimmy and Janice Wilkerson, Don and Veda Click and Randy and Linda Pittman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James B. Pace Sr and Louella Pace; stepmother, Ruth Wilkerson; son, Barry Ryan Pace; brother, Jerry Pace; sister, Martha Sue Everett; brother, Carter Pace; sister, Sarah Pace.
He adored his wife and family. Leaving this life, we all knew he loved us very much and would often be heard to say, “I love My Ruby Faye – And I love my Family. God sure blessed me with a wonderful wife. I sure do love her. Every friend I have ever had was because of her. I don’t think I’ve ever met a soul that didn’t love Ruby Faye. She raised me a beautiful family. I thank God for my family.”
No one left his presence without hearing – I love you, Be careful.
After a while, “I love you” morphed into “Lubbit” (Love it!). He was so easy to love. He sang to his grandchildren and taught them things like how to work a computer, play chess, and nap.
One of his most prized accomplishments was having read The Bible, multiple times, cover to cover. He studied for decades with an extensive library on biblical reference books and Bible studies. He loved Jesus. He wanted nothing more than to have his loved ones become Christians. He was passionate and quick to share how he loved the Lord at every opportunity. He was a member and Sunday School Teacher at Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Helms, and Rev. Jeff Arnold officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 24, 2024 form 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
