James “Bud” Everette McDonald, age 84 of Cowan passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at St. Thomas West in Nashville. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Sherwood on December 13, 1936 to the late Horace Harp and Mary Lee Lynch McDonald. He was employed for many years at the Marquet Cement plant, but later retired from Regions Bank. When he was not working or spending time with his loving family, he could be found hanging out at Linda’s Market and the Bullpen, watching Westerns, or cheering on his beloved Tennessee Volunteers. He was a very smart and caring man that was loved by many and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lauren Johnson; brother, Harold “Skinny” (Mary Lee) McDonald; and niece, Brenda Legg. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Emma McDonald of Cowan; children, Betty (Brent) Brown of South Pittsburg, Melissa (Mark) Blackburn, Jeannie Sexton, Barry (Tonji) Johnson, and Connie (Tommy) Blevins all of Stevenson, AL; grandchildren, Brad Summers, Keith Summers, Jason Hill, Josh Grider, Kevin Beasley, Missy Holderfield, Kristina Shelton, Blake Brown, Britney Smith, Elizabeth Johnson; a host of great grandchildren; sister, Betty Ann Denton of Cowan; nephews, Scotty Denton, Les McDonald, Brady Denton; nieces Tina Payne, Jackie Stines, and Kelly Denton. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A Graveside service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Cowan Montgomery cemetery with Rev. L.Z.
