James “Big Guy” Conway

James “Big Guy” Conway aged 77, passed away suddenly at his home on June 30, 2024. He was born on February 4, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to James Kenneth Conway Sr. and Mary Beatrice Conway. He was raised in Berkeley, Illinois and was a 1965 graduate of Proviso West. Most of his adult years were spent in St. Charles, Illinois where he raised his family. For 20 years Jim and Mary visited Winchester, Tennessee and were able to retire there in 2013. His career was in mechanical engineering but his heart was in love of gardening, carpentry, and his three daughters. He found great joy in life watching his 2 nephews and his 6 grandsons grow. He is survived by wife Mary Conway; his younger brother, Jeffrey Conway and his son’s Johnathon and Benjamin of Huntsville, Alabama; his daughters Melissa (Trent Ellis) Lugo and her son, Jack of Salt Lake City Utah, Katie Lindgren (Jason) and their son’s Nolan, Knox and Miles of Arlington Heights, Illinois and Megan Burnett (Joe) and their son’s Ryder and Jayce of St. Charles, Illinois.

A celebration of life open to all will be held at the Novak Park Pavillion in St. Charles, Illinois, on July 14th from 2:00-5:00 pm, with a Memorial Moment at 3:00. Donations in James’ name to Wounded Warrior Project and Isaiah 117 House of Coffee/ Franklin/ Grundy Counties of Tennessee.
