James Beard, 90, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday. Mr. Beard was a WWII veteran, having participated in 36 missions out of Spinnazola, Italy, and was honored by the Honor Flight for WWII veterans. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville, and was happily married for 66 years. Mr. Beard was an avid gardener and lived by the Golden Rule.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Beard; daughters, Susan Beard of Birmingham, and Nancy Barnett (Mac) of Atlanta, GA; sister, Eddie Hartselle, of Decatur; friend, Banks Hodge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The service will immediately follow in the chapel with Mark Seanor officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
