James Asa “Toby” Farley

James A. Farley James Asa “Toby” Farley, 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, March 9, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Sonny Owens officiating.

Toby was a 1964 graduate of UNA where he was a member of the ROTC, and later served in the National Guard. He worked as a chemist at TVA for forty-five years and, after his retirement, worked as a consultant at IFDC for ten years. Toby loved painting and photography. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, James Aaron Mitchell and Sara Nicole Mitchell; parents, Owen and Vernice Farley; and sister, Martha Nan Samples (Donald).

Toby is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Linda Farley; children, Natalie Carlisle (Joey), Nashville, TN, Melonie Blaylock (John Paul), Tupelo, MS, Donna Tatum, Florence, and Starisha Neloms (Tyrus), Tuscumbia; brother, Owen Eli Farley, Jr. (Moonean), Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Kelsie Hunter (James Riley), Emmalee Blaylock, and Kyzlin Kelly; and nieces and nephews.

The family offers special thanks to Debra, Brayden, and Tammra, of Gentiva Hospice; Dr. Rangaraju; and all the staff on the HOUS floor at UAB.
