James Arthur Adams III, of Hampton Cove, AL, formerly of Union, NJ, died on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at his home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Mass in his honor at Sacred Heart Church, 148 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10:30 am. He worked for R&S Strauss, Montgomery Ward, and Channel Lumber, before retiring from Henkel, Inc.
Born in Newark, NJ, Jim spent most of his life in Union, New Jersey before moving to Hampton Cove, AL in 2009. He was an avid golfer, loved taking cruises with his wife, loved westerns, especially John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, took up woodworking after retirement and enjoyed his part-time job at Lowes Home improvement. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen, of 53 years, two daughters, Lori Burkett and her husband, Steven, of Hampton Cove, AL, Tracy Marques and her husband, Victor, of Kenilworth, NJ; a son, James IV and his wife, Shannon (Merrill), of South Plainfield, NJ; and seven grandchildren: Tyler Burkett, Morgan Burkett, Joseph Marques, James Adams V, Hannah Burkett, Ryan Marques, Avery Adams and his beloved dog, Casey.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey or to the Valerie Fund of Morristown would be greatly appreciated.
