James Arnold Prefling, 76, of Huntsville, AL, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Jim was born in Newark, Ohio and graduated from Butler High School in 1962. He graduated from Ashland College with a degree in business administration and was a financial officer at PPG Industries for 33 years.
Jim enjoyed many sports and he was an avid supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Jim loved playing golf and was an active member of Valley Hill Country Club. He was also a previous Area Director for the Alabama Seniors Golf Association. He belonged to Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, George Henry Prefling and Doris Eileen Hammond Prefling. He is survived by his son, Shanon James Prefling; daughter, Paula Prefling Case, son-in-law, Rick Case; grandson, Zack Case; granddaughters, Lauren, Anna and Ashley Case; the mother of his children, Audra Laribee Prefling; and his companion, Karen Garrett.
Due to the current pandemic, a private family service will be held. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, AL.
