Mr. James Andrew Turner, Sr. 93, a resident of Lauderdale County, passed away July 23, 2014 at Florence Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, a veteran of WWII in the United States Navy. He served from December 23, 1943 to January 4, 1946. He was stationed in San Diego, California and served on the USS Intrepid and the USS Capricornus. He was honorably discharged on January 4, 1946. He was retired from Reynolds Metals Company in 1983.
Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2014 from 2 – 3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Tim Grigsby officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Turner was preceded in by his wife Virginia Pearl Turner; parents, William A. and Arlie Velma Husky Turner; sisters, Pauline McDaniels, Edna Tipper; brothers, William and Hartwell Turner.
He is survived by his daughters, Virginia Arlene Peden, Debra Elaine Friar, Patricia Ann Farr; sons, James Andrew Turner, Jr., Larry Wayne Turner both of Florence; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred Jessie Turner.
Pallbearers will be Jamey Turner, Jeff Willis, Adam Willis, Dwight Friar, Daryl Behel, and Larry Turner.
