James Alton “Bud” Blackstock

James Alton “Bud” Blackstock, 87, of Florence, passed away February 21, 2024. He was a member of IBEW #558 since 1956, Alabama National Guard from 1955-1963, Elks Lodge life member, Mason #788 in Killen, AL, Scottish Rites of Florence, AL and life member of the Shriners.

Visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ian Butler and Tony Quillen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be his life-long friends, Ted Weems, and Greg Thornton.

Mr. Blackstock was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Russell Blackstock; parents, Ernest and Estelle Blackstock; brothers, E.E. “Babe” Blackstock and William Lance Blackstock; sister, Nelda Doris Rouse; beloved grandson, Joshua Vinson; and nephew, Gary Dale Blackstock.

He is survived by his children, Suzann Vinson (Jack), Tammy Barnes (Jim), Jamie Hargett (Jeff), Renee Osborn (Matt), Kim Tanner, Amy Smith, and Todd Blackstock; brother-in-law, Grant Russell (Bobbi); grandchildren, Emily Newcomb, Kyle Vinson, Sarah Blankinship (Bill), Chase Tanner (Amanda), Erin Burns (Trey), Sydney Thompson (Josh), Anna Kate Osborn, Hunter Duncan, Jake Palese (Christopher), Colin Duncan, Mollie Beth Osborn, and Gracie Smith; and great-grand-children, Hayden, Trey, Finn, Stellie, Natalie, Wylie, Andrea, Alex, Kaylee Grace, Charlie, Samuel, Sadie, Carter, Barrett, Blayse, Abbi, and Luke.

Pop was so proud of his big family and loved them so much.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
