James A. “Jim” Grant, age 76, Huntsville, Alabama, passed away from this life on August 16, 2024.

He was born in Joplin, Missouri to Ivan E. Grant and Elizabeth P. Grant on April 20, 1948. After finishing high school and joining the Army, he worked his way through college, attending University of Maryland, College Park, MD, where he met the love of his life, Reda Henderson Grant. They both moved to Bentonville, AR where he graduated BSBA in Accounting and Data Systems at University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR. They moved to Huntsville, AL where Jim graduated with an MBA at Florida Tech in Huntsville, AL. He worked for Intergraph and Peoplesoft and retired in the field of higher education software computer consultant.

Ingrained in Jim was his love for animals, music, computers and woodworking, building beautiful furniture. He played in rock bands in the sixties and seventies, loved history and never stopped learning.

He is survived by the love of his life, Reda Grant of Huntsville, AL; and special nieces and nephews, Lisa Oberlies, Matthew Oberlies, Susan Walter, Vanessa Hall, and Patrick D. Hall; and sisters-in-law, Norma Oberlies (Huntsville, AL) and Bonnie Simmons (Union Grove, AL).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or New Leash on Life of Huntsville, AL.
