James A. Burns was born February 14, 1936 in Michie, TN, the son of the late Charlie and Mackie Lipford Burns. He was united in marriage to Nora Elizabeth Smith on November 2, 1957. He was a charter member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Michie, Tennessee. James was a 1955 graduate of Michie High School. He retired from World Colour in Corinth. He had also worked at Wurlitzed and was a farmer. James served our country proudly in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Burns departed this life on January 28, 2018 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 81 Years, 11 Months, 14 Days.

He is survived by his wife Nora Elizabeth Smith Burns of Selmer, TN; four sons: Phillip Burns and wife Karla of Michie, TN, Sanford Burns and wife Vonda of Bethel Springs, TN, Robert Burns and wife Pam of Adamsville, TN, Joel Burns and wife Ruth of Adamsville, TN; a brother, Jessie Burns and wife Jean of Corinth, MS; 11 grandchildren: Samantha Burns Ellis and husband Ethan, Hunter Burns, Rachel Burns, Kyle Burns, Samuel Burns, Emily Burns, Alicia Burns, Mark Burns, Ben Burns, Kaci Burns and Baylee Burns; two step grandchildren, Rachel Pulse and Jacee Pulse; a step great grandchild, Jaxon James; and a host of other friends and relatives.
