Funeral service for Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Persall McWhorter, age 92, of Moulton, will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with her grandsons, McCord Compton, Jason Cartee, Kevin Cartee, and Chad Ray officiating.  Her family will receive friends for two hours prior to service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Moulton Memory Gardens, where Mitchell Compton will officiate.  Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.

Mrs. McWhorter passed away peacefuly at her home on February 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born April 5, 1931, in Alabama to Vernon and Vonie Persall.  She married James Max McWhorter in 1948, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  A devoted member of Fairfield Church of Christ, she was also a very good cook who showed her love of family by preparing their favorite meals.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Max McWhorter; son, David Max McWhorter; daughter, Larnita McWhorter; parents; and sons-in-law, Carlton Cartee and Gordon Ray.

She is survived by three daughters, Sheron Ray, Marion Cartee, and Vickie Compton (Mitchell); sister, Peggy Lansford; six grandchildren, Dawn Rowe (Mark), Jason Cartee (Misty), Chad Ray (Misty), McCord Compton (Stacy), Kevin Cartee (Alison), and Julie Compton; 13 great-grandchildren, Adston Compton, Tyler Cartee, Maggie Ray, Kalli Cartee, Kayla Compton, Lillyanna Cartee, Madelyn Ray, Drew Cartee, Max Rowe, Dax Cartee, Collin Compton, Libby Ray, and Carson Rowe.

Pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Adston Compton, Tyler Cartee, Drew Cartee, Max Rowe, Dax Cartee, Collin Compton, and Carson Rowe.  Honorary pallbearers will be brothers-in-law, Ray McWhorter and O. D. Bowling, and grandson-in-law, Mark Rowe.
