Jacqueline “Jackie” Little Bohannon was born 3 December 1937 to George and Mildred Russell in Falkville, Alabama, and passed away 24 October 2024. She was the wife of William Joseph Bohannon for 48 years. Jackie was an amazing mother to Steve Holt, David Holt, Jacqueline Schlangen (Gary), Samantha Dimon (Geoffrey), and April Pointer (Dave), and a caring stepmother to Cynthia Thompson (Gary) and Jarrod Bohannon (Lori). She was grandmother to more than two dozen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who all loved their “Mimi” dearly.
She was a successful Cosmetologist and the owner of Jackie’s Salon of Cosmetology in Decatur for 40 years, and perfected her trade working for Rainey’s in downtown Decatur for over 25 years.
Although Jackie graduated from beauty school prior, she was a 1956 graduate of Decatur High School.
Her many attributes included incredible talent in her chosen field of Cosmetology, artistry, kindness, a gentle spirit, a sincere love of others, and an effervescent ability to equip all those around her to see the beauty within themselves–both inside and out. She loved any and all she met without hesitation or any sort of bias. She had an incredible love for babies, and any and all children were always welcome to attention and affection.
At the pinnacle of her career, she was part of the Hair America National Design Team in the 1970’s, responsible for designing the beauty trends for that particular season.
She adored yellow roses, spring daffodils, oceanside vacations, farmers’ markets, home cooking, holiday and family get-togethers, and providing hospitality for the people she loved.
Jackie was a woman of faith, and a member of First Bible Church in Decatur for 40 years where she taught many Sunday school classes and participated in dozens of ministries throughout the years.
She was the most loving human most of us have ever known, and will be dearly missed by her family and the many customers’ lives she brightened for so many years.
Visitation is scheduled to begin at First Bible Church in Decatur at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, 28 October 2024, with funeral service following at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Bell Springs Cemetery, Falkville, AL.
