Visitation for Jackson Waters, 83, formerly of Moulton will be tonight from 5 to 8 at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Alan Compton officiating and Pastor Joey Smith assisting. Burial will follow at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Waters went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at his residence. He was born March 28, 1930, in Lawrence County to William Grady and Elzie Shelton Waters. He attended Midway School and served honorably in the Korea conflict where he earned several Distinguish Service Medals. He attended the United Methodist Church of Snead and was a member of Conway Baptist Church. Mr. Waters was a farmer, retired truck driver and entrepreneur.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Spencer, Wayne, Willard and Henry; one sister, Naomi Waters; and one son, Scott Terrell Waters.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Eubanks Waters; son, Jackson J. Waters Jr.; three granddaughters, Natosha Banks, Leia Amous and Keyla Benefield; six great-grandchildren, Savanna Amous, Brody Banks, Cheyenne Benefield, Taylor Amous, Cotton Benefield and Jaxson Banks; four brothers, Verbon, Oneal, Paul and Dwight; three sisters, Doris Compton, Fayneil Darnell and Wanda Lee Hill; six step grandchildren and 19 step great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Willard Waters Jr., Jeffery Waters, Wesley Waters, Heath Waters, Ricky Darnell, Stanley Hill, Martin Harrison and Samuel Moody.
