Jackie Holder Greenwood, 78, closed his eyes on this worldly life and opened them in Heaven on December 7, 2024. Jackie was a Storyteller and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He worked a lot of jobs in his lifetime. His favorite story was when he worked to clean up after the World Trade Center was bombed in 1993. Jackie never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. He and his wife Ruby, whom he married in 2009, loved to go on cruises and have been on many cruises together. Jackie was a wood worker and loved making wooden gifts for his family and friends. He also loved attending the Wood Workers meeting every month. He retired from Tecumseh after 17 years. Jackie was born in the Wallerville Community to Jack Holder Greenwood and Nellie Kinard Greenwood. He attended Saltillo First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Ruby J. Greenwood and his daughter Connie Greenwood Collins (Athen), Step-Son David Cooper (Teresa); grandchildren, Haley Blount (J.D.), Shasta Walls, Brady Collins, Michael Greenwood (Ashley), J. D. Greenwood, Darrell Cooper (Heather), Lori Baker (Steve), Katelyn Cooper (Derrek) and Madalyn Cooper; great-grandchildren, Briley, Kaden, Everleigh, Finley, Bailey, Melody, Sawyer, Matthew, Luci and Kohen; his brother, Jimmy Greenwood (Linda), and sister, Jeanie Breland (Mark); and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins .

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scotty Greenwood; the mother of his children, Mary Faye Greenwood; brothers, William “Bill” Greenwood and Danny Greenwood, and sister, Janice Greenwood; and great-grandchild, Zadiee Mae.

 

A service celebrating Jackie’s life will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo. Visitation will be from 11 AM to service time Wednesday only at the funeral home, with Rev. Tim Green and Bro. Darrell Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Macedonia Community. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at 1 PM at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/live-streaming and archived thereafter. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve their friends.

 

Pallbearers will be Michael Lamar Greenwood, Michael Keith Greenwood, Mark Greenwood, Kenny Greenwood, Steve Baker and Derek Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Wood Workers Club and members of the Johnny Green Sunday School Class at Saltillo First United Methodist Church.

 

Jackie will be missed by his many friends and family. But this is not goodbye; this is “See you in a little while.”
