Mr. Jackie Dean CainJackie Dean Cain, 71, of Pleasant Groves passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at his home. He got ready for this journey when he received the Holy Ghost on July 17, 1981 at a Friday night singing at Nila Holiness Church. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Holiness Church for 43 years, but was raised there all of his life.
Jackie was born August 18, 1952 to Fletch and Vicie Cain, the 13th of 14 children. Jackie had a desire to make it, but even more so when his loving wife of 48 years, Deveda, died on January 13, 2021. There is a pink rose in the blanket that signifies their devotion. He loved her dearly.
Left to mourn is his son Jonathan. They traveled a lot of miles together going to singings. Jackie loved meeting people and played the bass guitar for several holiness groups since about the age of 18. Over the years, He also developed a skill for the acoustic guitar playing at Christmas programs, weddings and funerals.
He worked at Lozier for over 30 years, retiring early due to his health declining. After that, he worked at Walmart putting bicycles together. One of his favorite things to do was to call in to “partyline” almost every day. People who listened regularly to this radio broadcast knew when Jackie got on the line. Sometimes he would just make a funny comment or sell an item, but he enjoyed calling in other people’s birthdays, hoping they would a win prize. He enjoyed making others laugh and feel good.
Jackie was also preceded in death by his mother and father in-law, Paul and Estelle Stone, siblings and in-laws: Dot Brewer (Ed Williams), Francis (Charles) West, Trenda (Earl) McAllister, Venie (Bud) Sanders, Ruby (Richard) Jones, Wade Cain, Clarence (Gert) Cain, JW (Loretta) Cain, James Cain, Howard Cain, Leon Miller, Barbara Faye (Don) Fortner, Billy Ray Stone and Glenice Stone.
He is also survived by his loving family, siblings and in-laws: Jean Miller, Sam and Dale Cain, Janet Cain, Pat Cain, Sandra Cain, Joyce Cain, Nelson Stone, Eugene and Linda Stone, Carroll and Deveda Stone, Dwight and Linda Stone, Eddie Stone, Martha and Frank Tackett, Ricky and Beth Stone, Avery and Rebecca Stone, as well as, a large family of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Holiness Church at 4:00 p.m. with Bro Nick West, Bro James Carl Black, Bro Rob Buckner and Bro Bradley Wooten officiating with Bro Jamie Black at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Holiness Church.
