Jack Thomas Sheffield passed away peacefully at the Sanctuary Hospice House on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born in Tupelo on December 4, 1939. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. In February of 1963, he married the love of his life, Clara Cochran Sheffield and they enjoyed 57 years together before her passing on January 28, 2020. Well known in his community, Jack was the owner of Skyline Tire and later became a route driver for Wonder Bread. His most recent venture was ownership of J and S Furniture. He was a man of great faith and a dedicated member of Boguefala Baptist Church. Jack’s family remembers with a smile, he was always tinkering on something. From old refrigerators to radiators, don’t throw it away because Jack can fix it!
He leaves behind his niece Gayla McGreger and her children, Raena and Davis McGreger, all of Mooreville; and his nephew, Stacy Walley and wife, Missy of Benton, Arkansas and their children, Carly, Madison, and Mallory Walley.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Clara and a daughter Sherry Ann who died on February 27, 2023.
Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at Pegues Funeral Directors in Tupelo. Services honoring Jack’s memory will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. David Perry officiating. Burial will be in Boguefala Cemetery.
