Jack H. Furman, 92 years old, passed away on July 9, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Maude Furman of San Antonio, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Hilda Lindley Furman; daughter, Judith A. Furman of Hoover, AL; son, James M. Furman of Huntsville, AL; a very dear friend of the family of many years, Sharon Goodwin of Hoover, AL, and Cathy Davis, treasured caregiver, of Huntsville, Al.

Mr. Furman was born on November 12, 1922, at Fort Bliss, TX. In his youth at Fort Sam Houston, TX, he was a member of Troop 23, earning Eagle Scout with First Combination Palm. He was a veteran of World War II; he served with the 911th Field Artillery Battalion of the 86th Infantry Division in Europe and in the Philippine Islands. Following his military service he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering at Mississippi State University, and a Master of Science degree in Engineering at the University of Alabama; from 1950 to 1953 he worked for Southern Services, Southern Company in Birmingham, AL; from 1953 to 1960 he worked for the Guided Missile Development Division at Redstone Arsenal; from 1960 until retirement in 1978 he worked for Marshal Space Flight Center in Space Vehicle Structures.

Mr. Furman was a member of the First Baptist Church, since 1954.

On April 19, 2008, he was a proud member of the Honor Flight Group to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with Rev. Mark Seanor officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntsville Humane Society.
