Jack Dennis Walker, age 84 of Dora, passed away on Thursday October 3, 2024 at his residence. He was born on September 28, 1940 in Beckley, West Virginia to the late Estel “Jack” and Evelyn Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Jimmy Walker, Christine Barnes, and Kathy Bodiford. He graduated from Man High School in Man, West Virginia and Beckley College in Beckley, West Virginia. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and retired from Jim Walter Resources and the coal mining industry, including West Virginia and Alabama after 40 years of service .
Mr. Walker is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Sharon Walker; children, Terri King (Johnny) and Kim Shrewsbury (Tom); grandchildren, Courtney Smith (Casey) and Erin O’Steen (Cody); great-grandchildren, Kirsten Reed (Thomas), Jaci Nichols, Eleanor O’Steen, Eli Smith, Waylon Smith, and Taegan Smith; He is also survived by his siblings, Phyllis Welch and Robin Walker Keffer of West Virginia. He is also survived by his loving sister-in-law Debie Durant and a host of sweet nieces and handsome nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday October 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Dora with Rev. Ken Mostella officiating. Interment will follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
