Jack David "J.D" Pope Jack David “J.D.” Pope, age 79, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, in Columbia, Tennessee.

He was born in Giles County on February 4, 1943, to the late Joe Perry and Jeneva Wray Pope.

J.D. was no man shy of a hard’s day work. He became a self-employed painter taking on the challenge of painting houses. He took a lot of pride in what he could do with his own two hands. If he put his mind to something, nothing could stop him. He even built his family home from the ground up. He loved tending to his yard and garden and reaping the fruits of his labor. He loved to socialize and strike up a conversation with anyone, that was part of his charm. When he wanted to enjoy some down time, you could find him in his living room watching some good Westerns.

He is survived by his daughter: Rita (Shawn) Casteel; grandsons: Juston (Hailey) Pope, William Casteel; great-grandsons: Elijah Pope, Kaison Pope; sister: Joann Pope Vetzel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Reba Osbourne Pope; brother: Randy Pope; sister: Janie Pope; special nephew: Rodger Morrow; and their dog: Lucy.

A visitation for Reba and J.D. will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM with the funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. To follow, they will be laid to rest in the Garden of Mark at Polk Memorial Gardens.
