jackJack Conway, 72, of Guntersville died July 4, 2016. Jack Donald Conway was born April 16, 1944 in Portland, Oregon, and grew up in Walla Walla, Washington. After his education in public schools, Jack received a BA in Economics from Washington State University and later received his MS in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. In 1967, he met the love of his life, Jane Adams, and they were married on August 19, 1967.
Jack enlisted in the Army in November 1967. He retired in 1993 as Colonel Jack Conway, US Army Program Manager, TOW Missile System. Among his accomplishments in service to our country, he held leadership and staff positions in a variety of organizations and locations throughout the continental United States and overseas, including Germany, Thailand, and Vietnam.
After his accomplished Army career, Jack became a local corporate leader for several businesses, where he provided management, systems engineering, and technical services in the defense and aerospace sectors. His post-Army career included Senior Vice President, Business Unit Vice President, and Program Manager for Analytical Services, Inc. (ASI) and President of Sigmatech.
His service to our community was equally impressive. He was actively involved in Kiwanis Club of Huntsville, the International Society of Logistics, Leadership Huntsville/Madison County, Early Works Museum and the Whistle Stop Barbecue Festival, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lake Guntersville Sailing Club, United Way of Madison County, and the US Power Squadron’s American Boating Organization.
In addition to his wife Jane, Jack is survived by his sister Janet Batchelor, brother-in-law, Mick Batchelor, two nephews, one niece, and countless friends and colleagues.
At the request of Jack and his family, his remains will be cremated and a private service will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alabama Constitution Village Foundation in Jack’s memory.
