J. Wesley CainA Memorial service for J. Wesley Cain, 83, will be Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Zeke Haselden, Rev. Stephen Hampton and Rev. John Cain, III officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Cain passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born September 9, 1940, in Morgan County, to John Candler Cain and Anna Lucille McDonald Cain, who preceded him in death.

Wesley was a member of and loved Somerville Methodist Church and was very instrumental in their food pantry. He was a Past -State President of the AAVFD for 10 years and was instrumental in writing legislation for Volunteer Firefighter Tags and Blue Reflectors to mark Fire Hydrants. He also was the First President of the Board of Directors for S.A.V.E.S and was very instrumental in the very first Fire Classification for the Somerville Area. He was the owner of KDC Properties Real Estate and started Auctioneering in 1972. Wesley was also a United States Army Veteran. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wife – Martha Hicks Cain

Daughter – Kelly Cain Butler (Curt)

Brother – John Candler Cain, Jr.

Sister – Marjorie Masterson

Four Grandchildren –
Ava Elizabeth Butler,
Bella Grace Butler,
Daniel Wesley Butler and
Beau Curtis Butler.

Four Nephews –
Don Lawrence Masterson,
John Cain III,
John H. Masterson and
Jeffrey Cain.

Four Nieces –
Ann Blair Huffman,
Jane Gordon Hampton,
Amy Overton and
Laura Bishop.

Numerous Great Nieces and Nephews.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations be made to Somerville Methodist Church “Food Pantry” or to S.A.V.E.S. (Somerville Area Volunteer Emergency Services, Inc.)
