J. V. (Pete) Johnson
April 16, 1928 – January 5, 2015
Funeral for J.V. (Pete) Johnson, 86, of Decatur, will be Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m., prior to the funeral, at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson, who died Monday, January 5, 2015 at home, was born April 16, 1928, in Prentiss County, Mississippi, to Jewett and Elzie Johnson and grew up in Leoma, Tennessee. He retired from The Alabama State Highway Department with 33 years of service and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was a member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge and a US Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Christeva Laurence Johnson; two daughters: Linda Gordon and husband, Russ, and Janet Sugg and husband, John; Grandchildren: Josh Gordon and wife, Treva; Abigail Blevins and husband, Billy; Sarah Minnon and husband, Jon; John Cullen Sugg and wife, Jennie; Sam Sugg, and Peter Sugg; Great Grandchildren: Cate, Allie, Evie, and Knox Blevins; Luke, Joshua, and Justus Minnon; Zach and Micah Gordon, and Jack Sugg; and a brother, W. H. Johnson.
