Funeral service for J. U. “Hoss” DeVaney, age 89, of Madison, will be Thursday, November 7, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Lowery officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mr. DeVaney, who died Monday, November 4, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital, was born February 27, 1924, in Franklin County, to Claude DeVaney and Maggie Johnson DeVaney. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Rita Sartain and Cindy Hargrave.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice Crane DeVaney of Madison; three sons, Hoyt DeVaney of Cherokee, Jimmy DeVaney of Madison, and Keith DeVaney of Madison; one daughter, Cammie McCaig of Tanner; one sister, Elsie Woodham of Red Bay; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
