J.T. Quick passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 8, 2023, surrounded by family. He was
born on September 22, 1938, in Center Point, Marshall County, Alabama, to John Henry Lewis Quick and
Annie Clatis Blye Quick. J.T. was a member of the undefeated 1955 Marshall County High School football
team. He graduated from MCHS in 1958 and the Atlanta School of Electronics in 1960. He entered the
U.S. Army in May 1960 and graduated from the Signal School at Fort Gordon, GA, in October 1960 as a
radioman. He subsequently served in Germany during the Cold War. He married Bobbie Jean Turner on
January 18, 1964, in Guntersville, Alabama. J.T. held a number of positions in several fields throughout
his career including telecommunications. He was a soybean and cattle farmer. He was also the
proprietor of several businesses including a construction company, wholesale floral company, and food
manufacturing company. Following his retirement, J.T. worked in the hardware department at Lowe’s –
a position he enjoyed because it allowed him to get out and socialize with friends. He and Bobbie
enjoyed ballroom dancing, and he was partial to the foxtrot. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church where he served as a deacon.
J.T. was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Turner Quick, grandson Daniel Mason Woodard, parents
Lewis and Clatis Quick, brother Elbert Quick and sisters Edith Smith, Hazel Bryant, Elva Martin, Joyce
Guice, June Carr, and Lois Quick. He leaves behind one son John Quick and one daughter Lou Ann Quick
Woodard (Danny Woodard) as well as granddaughters Sara Elizabeth Woodard Phillips (Patrick W.
Phillips), Millie Claire Woodard, Taylor Quick Ondriezek (Kylie Ondriezek) and Anna Katherynn Quick
(Eddie Vega), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins to mourn him.
Funeral services were held at Guntersville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 2 p.m.
He was buried with his family at Woosley Cemetery near Center Point north of the State Park
