Steve Palmer Profile Photo J. Steven Palmer, “The Concrete Man,” passed into eternity on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Daddy was born on August 31, 1943 in Utah to John and Blanche Evon “Bonnie” Sperry Palmer. Growing up in Amory, he graduated from Amory High School in 1961 where he was also selected as Mr. AHS. Daddy earned his degree from Mississippi State University graduating in 1965 and he moved to Georgia to teach mechanical drawing. While there, he met our mother and then moved back to Amory to help his father in the concrete business. Throughout his career, daddy’s reputation became to be the best concrete man in town. In the past he was a staple at the Park Hotel visiting and drinking coffee with his friends, and later at McDonald’s. Daddy loved his family, but especially loved giving his sister a hard time.  An avid fisherman and hunter, daddy was a member of the Bodka Valley Hunting Club in Scooba and loved nothing more than to spend time with his girls and sit by the pool.  Known for his contagious smile and big grin, he was a friend to so many in our community and he was a member of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church.
