J.L. Prentice Profile Photo J.L. Prentice, a beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 29, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on April 20, 1954, in Giles County, Tennessee, he lived a life marked by hard work, love for his family, and a deep connection to the land.

J.L. was a true jack of all trades. From a young age, he demonstrated an ambitious spirit, securing his first job at just 14. Throughout his life, he contributed to various fields, including land development, logging, and dairy farming. His versatility and dedication were evident in everything he did.

One of J.L.’s greatest passions was fishing. He not only loved the sport but excelled at it, finding joy and solace on the water. His skill and patience in fishing mirrored the way he approached life—steadfast, patient, and with a quiet strength.

To his family, J.L. was more than just a gentle giant; he was their “daddy.” His love and dedication to his family were unwavering. He was a pillar of strength and support, always ready with a helping hand and a kind word. His gentle nature and big heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

J.L. Prentice leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

J.L. is survived by his wife Dorothy Patt Prentice, his children: Cathy (Dwayne) Maust of Union City, J.L. (Tabitha) Prentice of Lawrenceburg, Billy (Amanda) Prentice of Lawrenceburg, and stepson: Adam Hill of Lawrenceburg; grandchildren: Krista Maust, Steven (Stephanie) Russ, Joanna (Daniel) Craig, Kara (Charles) Maust, Brayden Russ, Perry (Alexis) Russ, Tess (Nathan) Putman, Elizabeth (Dalton) Fitts, Jordan Prentice, Eden Prentice, Aleanna Prentice, Korbin and Landric Hill; siblings: Danny (Gail ) Prentice, Dale (Diane) Prentice, Carl (Sharon) Prentice, Larry (Christy) Prentice, Shelby (Glenn) Kilburn, Jimmy (Tina) Prentice, and Roy (John) Prentice all of Lawrenceburg; 14 great-grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life of J.L. will held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Dean Modisette and Ray McDonald officiating.

Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
