Services for J. D. Downs, 73 of Corinth are set for Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 2:00pm at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with burial to follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Born June 9, 1944 in Tippah County, MS., J. D. was a retired factory supervisor and a member of Mills Community Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Sandra Willis Downs of Corinth; sons, Andy Downs of New Orleans, LA and Justin Franks and wife Sheri of Corinth; daughter, Leighann Mitchell of Corinth; granddaughter, Jayden Franks; great grandchildren, Kountry Rion and Alaeri McCollum ; brother, Bro. Gerald Downs and wife Rheedia of Alcorn County, MS; sisters, Brenda Dancer and husband Larry of Kossuth, Patsy Switcher and Kathie Harris both of Corinth; other relatives and a host of friends. J. D. is preceded in death by his son, Ronald Franks; father, Arvel Downs; mother, Beatrice Yarber Downs; brother, “Buck” Downs and a sister, Lila Buchanan. Pallbearers will be Gary Hodum, Shane Parker, Lee Switcher, Jerry Rodgers, William Pannell and Bill Jacobs. Bro. Buddy Downs and Bro. Robby Johnson will officiate the service.
