Service for Mrs. Ray will be Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Moundville AL, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Bro. Jerrell Geer will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.
Mrs. Ivey Ray is preceded in death by her husband; Doug Moore, son; Daniel Moore, daughter; Megan, parents; Myrtle and Jessie King, grandson; Daniel Moore Jr., sister; Alma Boswell, brother; Rabon King, step-son; Tony Ray, and sons-in-law; Doug Salyers, and Derricle Jones.
She is survived by her husband; Henry Ray of Duncanville AL, daughters; Christy Merie (Jimmy) Robertson of Duncanville AL, and Marsha Salyers (Jason Matthews) Jones of Northport AL, daughter-in-law; Sherry Lowe and her fur baby coco of Duncanville AL, sisters; Ellen Sue (Fred) Stoncipher, sisters-in-law; Doris Freeman, Ann King, Doris Moore, Shirley Moore, and Brenda (Carl) Moore, brother; Jessie Alton King, brothers-in-law; Butch Ray, and Lewis Ray, and grandchildren; Nathan (Ashley) Mcferrin, Adam (Ashley) Salyers, Jarrett Jones, Christian Robertson, Brandon (Faith) Malone, Chris Harper, Amber Donaldson, Neal Donaldson, Brandi Moore, Jessica Miller, Mackenzie Harper, Ava Salyers, Ashtyn Duncan, Tommy L. Mcferrin, D.J. Mcferrin, Jennifer Whitehorn, Mike, Timmy, Andy White, and Riley Sullivan, and great-granddaughter due in the spring.
Ivey Merie King Moore Ray was born to Jessie I and Myrtle Mae King October 20, 1947. She grew up in Moundville AL. She attended Hale county High School and went on to Marry Charles Douglas Moore on December, 20, 1966, where together they had three children. She was widowed in April of 1985 and raised her children on her own until she met the love of her life Henry Ray. They got married September 25, 1987, and have been together until her last breath. She was a wonderful mother and wife who loved her husband, children, and grandchildren passionately. She had a zest for life and Alabama Football. She enjoyed cooking, her flowers, watching the hummingbirds, knitting/ crocheting, and spending time with her family. She loved her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews with all her heart. She loved singing with her sister when she was a little girl. She left this earth exactly the way she chose. She was loved by all who knew her and will forever be missed. She was the “perfect wife” and will always be poppies “Hummingbird.” She would tell you all, this is not a goodbye but this is “tootle” and “She loved you all mostest.”
Pallbearers will be Nathan (Doodle) Mcferrin, Jarrett (Wetchet) Jones, Christian (Frog) Robertson, Bill (Cotton Top) Moore, Rusty (Mo) King, and Buddy (Wahaii) Wyatt.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam (Bomb) Salyers, Brandon (Fiddle) Malone, Jimmy Robertson, Jason Matthews, Ray King, Bryan Boswell, Brady Patton, Dennis Moore, Nursing Staff ICU at 1st and 4th floor, Dr. David Call, Dr. Anderson, Dr. Marston Martin, Dr. Taylor, her nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors of Moundville and Duncanville, Jarrell Geer, Mae Geer, Cody Mitchell, Conner Mitchell, Staff at Aspire Rehab, Josh Patton, Tracy Patton,
Deanna Green, Joe Green, Richard Chandler, Chick-Fil-A of Northport, and University of Alabama Athletics Department.
