Iva Bess Gullette Inman – Obituary

Iva Bess Gullette Inman, 90, of Sheffield, died Saturday, December 21, 2013. Her visitation and funeral was Monday, December 23, 2013, at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. Burial was in Barton Cemetery. Pallbearers included family members Joe Vail, Richard Campbell, Steve Godfrey, and Michael Scanlon.

Mrs. Inman was born in Colbert County in 1923, the middle daughter of Minnie and Joe Gullette. She was preceded in death by her son, Marcie Joe Inman and her sisters, Reba Claunch and Mary Neil Vail. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Cecil G. “Pete” Inman, numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous great-neices and nephews.

Iva Bess and Pete Inman resided in Huntsville, then for 40 years in Decatur, before moving to Sheffield in 2005. She was a Southern Railroad ticket agent for over 33 years, much of that time at the depot in Decatur. She was a lady of intelligence, strongly held and expressed convictions, and generosity to her extended family, for which she cared deeply, and which misses her greatly.
