Isoken (Ken) Onaiwu Igbinovia, aged 65 passed on to eternity with his loving wife by his side on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Murfreesboro, TN.
Ken was born on September 7, 1958 to Mrs. Alice Igbinovia (Nee Ogiamen) and Hon. Williams Igbinovia. He was the oldest child of his father’s 13 children. Ken grew up with his siblings in Benin City, Edo state. He attended Immaculate Conception College, Benin City.
At age 17, Ken relocated to the United States to study Business Administration and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University.
Ken grew up in the Anglican faith, and when asked, he would proudly say that he belonged to the Aglican Church, Church of England. Ken was a man of quiet faith. After God, Ken’s love was his family. A devoted father, Ken loved spending time with his children, taking walks with his son, Ethan, and listening to music with his daughter Naomi.
Although his work took him out of state, Ken always traveled home every weekend to be with his family. Ken was an extremely hard-working man and believed in the transformative power of work, education, discipline, and perseverance. He encouraged and counseled friends and family to strive for excellence, overcome obstacles, and to believe in their own potential.
After coming to the United States at age 17 without any family, Ken built a successful life for himself and his family. His life is a testament to the fact that faith in God, hard work and discipline can transform a man’s life. If you spent more than five minutes with Ken, he would inevitably advise you on how to organize your portfolio, save money for your children’s education, raise the value of your home, or how to save on taxes. Ken believed that every person should do whatever it takes to better themselves educationally, physically, and financially. Nothing gave him greater joy than to share the knowledge he had with others.
Ken loved to travel to different countries. He traveled to Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Japan, and Thailand to name a few. He loved good food, and often sought out the best restaurants in areas he visited. He loved listening to music, watching old westerns and of course his favorite pastime, following the stock market. His day started with the stock market and ended with the stock market.
In the last few months of his life, he graciously battled cancer with strength and courage, and is now resting with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife – Esther Igbinovia, daughter – Naomi Igbinovia, and son – Ethan Igbinovia. He is preceded in death by his father – Hon. As we bid farewell this sweet and humble husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, we do so with gratitude for the indelible mark he left on our hearts. His legacy will continue to inspire us, reminding us all of the power of quiet faith in God, hard work, humility, perseverance and the belief in the possibility of achieving success while making a positive difference in the lives of others.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
