Irene, affectionately known as “Renie Bug”, was lovingly raised by her aunt, Mary Baker Edwards and her husband, Theodore Edwards. She was the eldest child of seven sisters and two brothers.

She joined Phillips Tabernacle P.B. Church in the 1950’s and was a faithful member of the #1 Choir, where she loved to sing and praise the Lord, and everybody loved to hear Rene sing.

Mama Rene leaves to cherish her sweetest memories: four sons: Bobby Readus (Brenda) and Shawn Mack (Senora) both of Huntsville, AL, Maurice Mack (Tonya) and Cedrick Mack (Sheree) both of Covington, GA; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; four sisters: Martha Edwards, Dorothy Edwards, Reva Green (Thomas), and Verna Sue Hines (George) all of Huntsville, AL; close friend, Daisy Scott and members of the Phillips Tabernacle P.B. Church #1 Choir; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and  loved ones.
