Ms. Vashel was born on May 30, 1964, to the late William and Theresa Young Geguzis, in Ronkonkoma, NY, where she grew up.
She was a compassionate soul and dedicated nurse, who touched countless lives with her caring nature and healing hands. Gardening was one of her many hobbies (among the others was cooking), and she adored flowers of any kind, with her favorite color being yellow. A cup of coffee could always be found in her hands, and was a simple pleasure that mirrored her appreciation for the small things in life.
Her family meant everything to her, and were the sunshine of her life. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She loved the dogs and other animals she kept around her, and loved butterflies.
She will be remembered for the love and light that she brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
A visitation with her family will be on Thursday, December 14th, at McConnell Funeral Home, from 1-3pm. Her Celebration of Life will begin at 3pm in the chapel.
Ms. Vashel is survived by her sons, Chris Vashel and Vincent Vashel (Alicia); daughter, Theresa Vashel; sisters: Violet Bodie, Helen Kelley (Mike), Theresa Nizza (Joe) and Arlene Mahler; grandson, Liam Vashel; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; and brothers, William and Anthony Geguzis.
