Irene Cottingham Crawford, 85, of Trinity, Alabama passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at her home. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Midway Memorial Garden with Waymon Ashley and her son, Gordon Crawford officiating with Lawrence Funeral Home assisting the family.

Born on December 18, 1936 to Dawson and Lucille Ausbon Cottingham, Irene sold Tupperware for many years before enjoying 40 years of retirement. She loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and director of Vacation Bible School with her Baptist Church. Irene also like to travel and spend her winters in Florida. She will be remembered for her sweet and kind spirit.

Survivors include her children, Gordon Crawford (Jean), Debby Crawford, and Cindy Miller (Steve); grandchildren, Kylie Simmons (Jeremy), Jason Hernandez (Giselle), and Taylor Lewis (Sheldon); great-grandchildren, Dominic Simmons, Khloe Simmons, and Julian Lewis; sisters, Carolyn Towry, and Jan Hodge (Keith); brothers, Carl Cottingham (Barbara), Dale Cottingham (Sharon), Roger Cottingham (Beth), and Alton Cottingham; sister-friend, Betty Hitt; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Irene is preceded in death by her spouse, Ira Crawford; her parents; great grandchildren, Brody and Ivey Simmons; sisters, Sarah Nell Cottingham and Mildred Pitt; and brothers, Ray, Ralph, and John Cottingham.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Scott Matthews and staff, and Hospice of the Valley, especially Lara, Bailey, Penny, and Brittany.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideon’s or Hospice of the Valley.
