Irene Cole, aged 90, passed away on June 1, 2023, in Huntsville, Alabama. She was born on October 20, 1932, in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, to the late Delfin’ Apolinar Herrera and Severina Herrera.

Irene was a devoted wife to her late husband, Marion Bryan Cole. Irene was blessed with four siblings, Juan Herrera, Avelino Herrera, Iluminada Worley, and Rene Herrera, all of whom preceded her in death.

Irene was a woman of great faith and was an active member of Calvary Bible Church in Huntsville, Alabama, where she worshipped and served tirelessly. She also graduated from Jacksonville State University, where she pursued her passion for learning.

Through the years, Irene was known as a caring and empathetic person who deeply loved her family.

She is survived by her children, to whom she was a loving mother, William “Bill” V. Cole and his wife, Peggy, and Melinda Renee Cole; grandchildren, Kristen Leigh Carroll and her husband, David, Derek Austin Cole and his wife, Ashton, Parker Mahan and his wife, Kim, and Nicholas Mahan; and her great-grandchildren, Madelyn Carroll, Bryan Carroll, Aubrey Cole, Cole Mahan, and Beulah Mahan.

In her leisure time, Irene found it fulfilling to tend to her backyard garden of beautiful flowers and peppers, and cruising. Additionally, she was passionate about hosting family events and holidays, which allowed her to create everlasting memories with her loved ones.

Visitation for Irene will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Avenue, SW, Huntsville, Alabama 35805, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. Irene’s life will be celebrated and cherished by all whose lives she touched.
