Mr. Ira Ernest Holley, Jr. age 91, of Arab, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
Mr. Holley was born on August 20, 1928 to Ira Ernest Holley, Sr. & Annie Mae Griffith Holley in Blount County. Mr. Holley was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Korean War. He retired from commercial hauling as a truck driver. Mr. Holley was a member of the following; Arab Masonic Lodge #663 & Eastern Star; where he had received his 50 year pin with both organizations, Scottish Rites Temple of Huntsville and Cahaba Shrine of Huntsville. He enjoyed reading and watching Alabama Football and Atlanta Braves Baseball.
He was a member of Arab First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Holley is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty Anne Hill Holley; sons, Ernest Benjamin “Benny” Holley (Sheila), Mark Holley; daughter, Lisa Anne Holley Cox ( John); grandchildren, Amanda Holley, Mary Anne Leak, Brendan Jones, Ayla Jones; nephews, Holley Caldwell (Deby), Hamlin Caldwell (Cindy). Preceded in death by his parents, Ira Ernest Holley, Sr. & Annie Mae Griffith Holley; sister, Martha Holley Caldwell.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael Q Shirley & Rev. Steve West, officiating. Burial will be in the Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will include; Oliver Taylor, Benny Stone, Patrick Smith, Lavon Sutton, Hamlin Caldwell & Holley Caldwell.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Arab First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1058 North Main Street Arab, AL 35016 or Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, Al. 35951.
