Inmate Attacks Correction Officer At Morgan County Jail

DECATUR-On Tuesday, September 17, inmate Jason Oneal Stovall, 41 of Decatur, broke the sprinkler head in his cell causing it to flood the floor. The inmate was moved and isolated in the rec yard so the cell could be cleaned and for maintenance to repair the sprinkler head.
Once repairs were complete, a Corrections Officer directed the inmate to exit the rec yard and return to his cell.

Initially complying, the inmate walked towards the open door but then violently struck the Corrections Officer in the head and continued to attempt to beat the Officer.’

The inmate was tazed, with little effect and finally subdued when additional officers arrived.
Investigators are charging Stovall with Assault 2nd Degree. Bond $250,000.00
He is currently in the Morgan County Jail on Homicide charges. Bond $100,000.00.
The Corrections Officer was transported to the hospital for evaluation with non-life-threathening injuries.
