Inez Matthews – Obituary

Mrs. Inez Matthews, 93, of Florence, passed away February 13, 2015 at her residence. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church for 76 years, and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 2 p.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church where friends may call from 1 – 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Phil Cooper, and the Rev. Chris Compton. Burial will follow in Florence City Cemetery.

Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Thomas Matthews; parents, Joe and Ada Wright; brothers, Glenn, Clifford, and Ray Wright.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and James Lewis, Janie and Harvey Luke; grandchildren, Jeff Lewis (Amber), Tommy Lewis (Christine), Tracey Baker (Ronnie), Hannah Peters (George), Amy Tadlock; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Morrow, Tara Brown, Leslie Baker, Allison Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, Nathan Brown, Madison Lewis, Luke Peters, Caleb Lewis, Stephen Lewis, Haleigh Lewis, Joshua Lewis; great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Linkin Brown.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Lewis, Tommy Lewis, George Peters, Ronnie Baker, Nathan Brown, and Jonathan Lewis.

The family would like to express thanks to Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to our mother. And a very special thanks to her great-granddaughter, Tiffany, for seven years of loving care.
