Imogene Cooper was born on February 3, 1945, the daughter of late Lordy B Lawrence and Ruthie Lee Lawrence in Gibson County. She departed this life on March 30, 2024, at her family’s home in Milan, TN.
She accepted Christ at an early age and began her calling as an Evangelist in 1980. She worshipped at Bread of Life and Fellowship Christian Center in Jackson, TN alongside her husband James W. Cooper until his death in 2012. Imogene attended Trenton Rosenwald School for her high school education. She was a dedicated employee at Smurfit Stone for 25 years before retiring in 2007.
She leaves to cherish her memory nine children: Angela DeBerry of Milan, TN, Sherese DeBerry of Memphis, TN, Sheneka Balogun (Oluwashina) of Bartlett, TN, Shauna Taylor of Greenfield TN, Bonus Daughter Tracey Dickson, Trenton, TN, Vincent Cooper of Jackson, TN, Labreeska Cooper of Jackson, TN, Vonda Peete (Reginold) of Jackson, TN, Christopher Cooper of Jackson, TN,
2 brothers; Lordy B Lawrence Jr. (Sadie), James Lawrence: 3 sisters; Mamie Lawrence, Linda Nolan, Lisa Williams; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; other close relative and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lordy B Lawrence and Ruthie Lee Lawrence, husband, James W. Cooper, son, Charlie Rufus DeBerry Jr., grandson, James DeBerry, sisters/brothers – Willie Faye Lawrence, Hattie Lawrence, Robert Lee Lawrence, Mary D Lawrence, LT Lawrence, Marie Lawrence, Leslie Lawrence.
